This album, my third, is by my trio I play with regularly in New Orleans.
The title track “Happy Hour” was composed for this record.
“Happy Hour" usually refers to a few hours in the evening when a bar offers cheaper drinks. However, this song is about one of New Orleans’ famous specialties: oysters. The concept of the bar remains, but “Happy Hour” evokes the Happy Hour at a local oyster bar.
We also recorded a total of 11 songs, including jazz standards such as "Softly, as Morning Sunrise” and covers of famous songs such as "Edelweiss". The last song on the album “My Little Sonflower” is inspired by the time I get to spend humming a yakult yogurt drink song with my 4 year old son every morning.
It would bring me great joy if everyone listening to this song feels the same lighthearted joy and happiness and you do when enjoying delicious drinks and oysters at your favorite Happy Hour spot.
